Morocco High Atlas Mountains Trek
In the far Northwest corner of Africa, perched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahara desert, lies Morocco. A place characterised by the smell of incense, narrow labyrinths of ancient souks and rolling golden dunes - nowhere catches the spirit of Northern Africa quite like Morocco. Taking in locations a little less explored by the traditional tourist routes, the High Atlas Mountains Trek is not to be missed. Reaching 4,167m above sea-level at the peak of Mount Toubkal, this trek is both a mental and physical challenge in one of the most stunning, but surprisingly undisturbed mountain environments in the world. All the effort will be worth it for the incredible views throughout the challenge, including the Atlas mountain vistas and beautiful clear skies at night.
The trek is being run in partnership with The Children's Society. Their work for disadvantaged young people in the UK ranges from drop-in clinics in various cities offering mental health support and advice on a no-strings-attached basis, through to working with government and policy-makers to make sure children who don't have a voice are spoken for where it really matters.
Uganda Gorilla Trek
Take on the challenge of trekking and canoeing through the foothills of volcanoes and the lakes of Western Uganda. Experience the landscape, culture and wildlife of the country as you pass through a variety of different terrains, altitudes and beauties, staying on small islands at the heart of local communities along the way. Spend an unforgettable day finding the last remaining silverback gorillas, feeling like a true explorer as you cut your way through the underbrush to find the gentle giants, before spending a breathtaking hour in their company, watching, observing, and walking alongside them. Transform an empty field into a safe and exciting playground for generations to enjoy, whilst running creative play sessions with the children: teaching them to make the most of their imagination in education and employment. Immerse yourself in a community, learn some local language, and make a huge impact with a small charity that will last for years and years to come with East African Playgrounds.
